God's plans are not ours!
God sent Samuel to Bethlehem to anoint one of Jesse’s sons. God gives Samuel the best case scenario and a backup plan in case Saul discovers and tries to kill Samuel. Let's always be ready to adapt ourselves to the situations of life seeking God’s guidance. The anointing of David highlights the obedience and faith even when things seem risky. The God who sends Samuel also equips him for his mission. Above all, we learn that first God is Sovereign in his timing and in his choices. He is Lord of the Sabbath. He sees the heart, not the outward appearance. By choosing David, God reaffirms his preference for the simple and the humble of heart. Jesus is seeking today, servant-leaders, compassionate leaders, leaders who are fighting for the freedom and well-being of their people and not for their enslavement and suffering. Would God be delighted in me today to the point of saying I have found “David”, my servant!
Jesus, I trust in you
