What is Reconciliation / Confession?

The Catholic Sacrament of Reconciliation (also known as Confession, or Penance and Reconciliation) has three elements: conversion, confession and celebration. In it we find God's unconditional forgiveness; as a result we are called to forgive.

The Sacrament of Reconciliation is about an encounter with God's mercy and forgiveness. It's not something to be scared of... no matter how long it's been or how big your sins. http://lifeteen.com/my-side-of-the-confessional-what-is-it-like-for-a-priest/

If you have ever wondered how to make a good confession, Fr. Mike Schmitz has some solid advice for you. He points out that preparing for a good confession starts when we recognize that being a "good person" in our own eyes is not enough-we are called to holiness, which is something much greater.

BustedHalo.com's fantastic introduction to the Sacraments series: Why do we have to confess our sins to a priest? Can't we just pray to God for forgiveness? If I sin but no one is affected then can I say, "no harm, no foul?"
We are broken from sin, but luckily that's not the end of the story. We have been given the opportunity to be completely restored, the way we are intended. http://www.likableart.com/restored-steubenville-confession-film/
