Today, we begin our special preparations for Christmas. The Church uses Matthew's Gospel of Jesus' genealogy to prove He is the promised Messiah, fulfilling Old Testament prophecies by tracing His royal line from Abraham and King David. Indeed, Jesus is the rightful heir to David's throne, who fulfills God's covenant plan through Israel. This plan unfolds around three sets of 14 generations and Jesus is the final rest. From today, as we prepare for Christmas, we are to be aware that, we are walking towards the fulfillment of Prophecy. Jesus is the long-awaited Messiah (Christ) from David's line. Jesus's birth is the climax of God's love for humanity; His mission includes Gentiles and "Outsiders" as the genealogy intentionally includes women like Tamar, Rahab, Ruth (Gentiles) and Bathsheba (adulteress), demonstrating God's grace extends beyond typical boundaries and works through unlikely people. Our God is faithful. Despite our failures, flaws, brokenness and unworthiness his promises stand forever.
With St Paul, we can clearly say that, "He loved us" (Romans 8:27)
Jesus, I trust in you
