6th day within the Octave of the nativity. 1 John 2:12-17; Luke 2:36-40

January 16, 2026 Holy Redeemer Church

Still in gospel of the presentation of the Lord into the temple, we continue to rejoice with heaven and earth because our salvation has come. To truly rejoice St. John invites us to detach ourselves from the love of the things of this world by trying to serve God faithfully in our ordinary daily activities just as Annah did. Oh, friends let's be aware that loving earthly reality makes us earthly people, but loving heavenly realities make us heavenly. May we like Annah spend our lives in the service and love, and worship of God. She never left the temple, which means, she never detached herself from the source of strength, directions and blessing. My dear friends in the Lord, If you consecrate your lives to Jesus, Emmanuel, he will never forsake you nor leave you!

Jesus I trust in you
