January 3, 2026. John 1:29-34.

January 16, 2026 Holy Redeemer Church

On this third day of the year, John the Baptist invites us to fix our eyes on Jesus as the Lamb of God who takes away our sins. Holy Mother church also calls us to meditate on the holy name of Jesus, which is above every other name. While having this universal power and sovereignty over all things, Jesus is not revealed as a conqueror who dominates with earthly powers, but as the Lamb, a Savior who carries all our burdens and sins through silent obedience and redeeming love. His salvation flows not from powerful demonstrations but through self-denial and self-giving sacrifice. Jesus invites us to a transformed way of life which stems from spectators to obedience and witnessing, from fear to trust and surrender to God's power, who resides in self-giving love and sacrifice. Like John, let's always point God to others!

O Lord, Jesus, take away my sins. Release me from my burdens!
