Jesus sees the hungry, weary, tired people as sheep without a shepherd. This is so important for us to see in Jesus our true Shepherd. "Sheep without a shepherd" could be people who are lost, vulnerable, helpless, and lacking spiritual guidance, direction, or true leadership, much like sheep that wander off and become prey without a shepherd to protect and lead them to food and water. May we find in Jesus a spiritual guide, and the comfort we need when harassed, scattered, and in desperate need of care, truth, and love. Jesus is our Good (the "Good Shepherd").
